Video tutorials: learn KeyPlan in minutes
Prefer to watch rather than read? These short screen recordings come in two tracks: the anonymous planner (no account needed) and the full planner you get with a free account.

Anonymous planner
Anonymous planners live behind a private link — no login required. Each recording below follows along in an anonymous planner created live during the recording.
-
Getting started with an anonymous planner
The whole first session end to end: create a planner, give it a name, capture your first project, move it into Active work, and start a timer.
No account needed: create a planner → name it → add a project → make it active → start a timer. A screen recording of a first session on an anonymous KeyPlan planner (no login, saved only via a private link): creating a planner, renaming it, adding a project, moving that project into the Active work lane, and starting a timer on it.
- Click Create my workspace — free on the home page.
- Rename the planner with the inline pencil to make it yours.
- Add a project, then use Make active → to commit to it.
- Start the timer on the active card to track focused time.
-
Projects, tasks, and Active work
Build an honest backlog and then commit. Add a couple of projects, break one into concrete tasks, and deliberately move a single project into the Active work lane.
On an anonymous planner: add projects → break one into tasks → move it into Active work. A screen recording on an anonymous planner (no account) that adds two projects to the Projects lane, breaks the first project into three tasks, and then moves that project into the Active work lane.
- Use + Add project to capture outcomes in the Projects lane.
- Open a project and add tasks with the Add a task field.
- When you're ready, choose Make active → to focus on one thing.
-
Timers and focus
The core focus loop. Add a piece of active work, start its timer, watch the elapsed time climb while you work, then stop it when you pause or finish.
On an anonymous planner: add active work → start the timer → watch it accrue → stop it. A screen recording on an anonymous planner (no account) that adds an item to the Active work lane, starts its timer, shows the elapsed time climbing, and then stops the timer.
- Add something to Active work (or make a project active).
- Click ▶ Start timer—only one timer runs at a time.
- Click ■ Stop timer to record the session against the card.
Full planner
A free account unlocks the full planner — with features anonymous planners don't have: drag-and-drop between lanes, the Ideation space, and the interactive Calendar and Time history views.

Getting started with an account
Sign in, land on your dashboard of planners, open a full board, and tour the account-only tabs available across the top.

Drag-and-drop the full board
On the full board you can drag cards between lanes — the cross-lane drag-and-drop that anonymous planners don't offer. Move a card into Active work and back.

- Grab a project card and drag it into the Active work lane.
- Drag it back to Projects to defer it again.
- Prefer clicks? The card buttons do the same thing.
-
Capture ideas in the Ideation tab
Ideation is an account-only space to capture and shape ideas before they become board work. Open the tab and start a session.

- Open the Ideation tab.
- Click + New session and give it a name.
- Capture ideas, then promote the best ones to your board.
-
Calendar and Time history
Track time on the board, then review it. The full Calendar shows your week as time blocks, and Time history lists every completed session.
Review the interactive Calendar and Time history tabs. A screen recording of the account-only Calendar and Time history tabs, the full interactive views of scheduled work and tracked time that anonymous planners lack.
- Start and stop a timer on an active card to record time.
- Open Calendar to see the session as a block in your week.
